How to Conduct Formative Assessment(FA), Tools Used In It

As part of Continuous Comprehensive Education, teachers need to conduct two types of tests, which are Formative Assessments(FA), Summative Assessment(SA). These two test FA, SA will assess the student’s progress continuously. With these tests can find the learning errors and taking proper corrective measures to self-evaluate both teacher and student from time to time.

In the process of Continuous Evaluation Process(CSE) two types of evaluation are there. They are

• Formative Assessment(FA)
• Summative Assessment(SA)

When children are participating in the learning process provided in the classroom. Work to improve children’s learning by observing and recording how they are learning is called formative assessment. It supports children in a fearless environment and helps accelerate learning.

Constantly monitors the progress of the child and assists the child in necessary situations. Classroom discussions, children’s answers to questions in the middle and at the end of the lesson. While discussing the learning, the teacher can assess what and how the children have learned based on the answers given by the children participating in discussions, notebooks written by the children, class work, homework, project work, team work etc. Formative Assessment(FA) Tools Uses in It Four types of tools used to assess the students progress in the classroom situation. The tools used in FA and awarding marks to each tool as follows.

Here we are proving the complete information of each tools used in Formative Assessment. Teachers need to follow the description given below while conducting the formative assessment. The four tools of FA as follows.

Tool One Formative Assessment (Classroom Observations)

• Assessing each student’s participation levels during interaction in the class, during individual, group and whole-class activities.
•  Assessing during the transaction of a topic.
•  Assessing outside the classroom also during assembly, games, library period, etc.
• Taking individual care on the students who are less participating in the class or activities.
• Assigning small doable tasks to make them actively participate in the class.
• Noting down the assessment remarks in the diary/ assessment records as and when observed.
• Enter the assessment marks of each FA promptly

Tool Two Formative Assessment (Written Works)

• Assessing the Classwork notebooks: Handwriting, completion of the lessons, neatness.
• Assessing the Homework notebooks: completion of the given home works in-time
• Assessing the assignments: Quality of the work, Whether done on the suggested lines or not, submitted in time or not, etc..
• Enter the classwork marks of each FA promptly

Tool Three Formative Assessment (Projects Works)

• Assessing the quality of the project.
• Assessing the suitability of the project as per the guidelines suggested.
• Assessing the completion of the projects in time.
• Enter the Project marks of each FA promptly
