GO 22 dt: 20/02/2015 has been issued by Food and Civil Supplies of AP Govt to ensure the supply of good quality rice to schools, hotels run by the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan. According to previous GO 282 Dt: 02/06/1997 govt has been supplied rice at the rate of Rs .4- to all Hostels, Schools, Jr Colleges and other Govt institutes under the control of Women Development and child Welfare Department.
In addition to that, G.O.Ms.No.11 Dt:7/5/2013 order were issued to supply rice to rice to all premetric schools and post-metric hostels run by the Govt departments at the rate of Rs 1.00 per Kg.
Several problems have come to the notice that the Govt supplied rice from the MLS point to Schools and Hostels were not in good quality. The schools and concerned agencies frequently reported to Govt regarding the poor quality of rice that was provided by the Civil Supplies.
After keen observation of these supply of poor quality rice, the Govt has issued following guidelines for supply to good quality rice to all schools ,hostels and Colleges which are being run by the SSA AP.
Guideline to ensure good quality rice
- The MLS Points should allot best quality of rice for issue to the welfare hostels.
- The rice stocks is issued to Hostels/ Schools/College should be totally free from infestation.
- The Hostel Wardens should be permitted to select the best variety of
rice in the MLS points .
- MLS point in charge should keep good quality rice and provide
to the Wardens to select the best quality rice .
- The Hostel wardens shall lift the stocks on priority between 15th to 20th
of the month, before commencement of the PDS issues.
- The rice stocks issued towards welfare Hostels are to be dispatched
directly to the Welfare Hostel points and schools.
- The Welfare Departments should place all rice packets an oversight mechanism
comprising of parents and to monitor the stocks position, cooking practices to ensure that well cooked rice is served to the Hostel pupils.
