General Instructions for 10th Public Exam Answer Evaluation

Ensuring fair and accurate evaluation is crucial for the 10th public exams. Examiners must follow these essential guidelines to maintain consistency and transparency:

1. Refer to Official Textbooks

Before starting the evaluation process, Assistant Examiners must review the relevant portions of the prescribed Reader/Textbook to determine the correct answers.

2. Accept Relevant Answers

Any relevant response beyond the prescribed valuation principles should be considered and given appropriate credit.

3. Handle Border Cases Carefully

Special attention must be given to ambiguous or borderline cases to ensure fairness in evaluation.

4. Maintain Clear Marking Records

  • Record the question-wise and page-wise total on the front page of the answer script in the designated space.

  • Write the total marks in words.

  • The Assistant Examiner must sign the front page and include their assigned A.E. number.

5. Round Off Marks Correctly

When noting total marks, round off decimal values to the next integer (e.g., 19.5 should be recorded as 20).

6. Standardize Single-Digit Scores

For single-digit scores, add a leading zero (e.g., 7 should be written as “07” and spelled out as “zero seven”).

7. Evaluating Excess Answers

If a student attempts extra questions beyond the given choice, all responses must be evaluated. The answer with the highest score should be counted, and the others marked as “Excess.”

8. Handling Repeated Answers

When a candidate repeats an answer, award marks only for the higher-scoring response, and mark the other as “Repeated.”

9. Marking Irrelevant Answers

If an answer does not relate to the question, it should be marked as “Irrelevant” in the answer script.

10. Prioritize Language and Content

Language proficiency holds primary importance, while content remains secondary in evaluation.

By following these evaluation guidelines, Assistant Examiners can ensure a fair and accurate assessment of students’ performance in the 10th public exams.
