Guidelines for NPS/CPS Updates: Name, Date of Birth, and Joining Date Changes for Government Employees

The National Pension System (NPS) now enables government employees to update their Name, Date of Birth (DoB), Date of Joining (DoJ), and Date of Retirement (DoR) in their PRAN accounts. The update functionality is accessible through the CRA system at the nodal office level. Detailed instructions are outlined for making these changes effectively.

The District Treasury and Accounts Officers are instructed to follow updated procedures for modifying subscriber details in PRAN accounts. This update aligns with notifications from Protean-CRA confirming the CRA system’s functionality for these changes, supported by a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).

1. Name Change Request Procedure
To initiate a name change, follow these steps based on the type of request:

For General Name Changes:
Upload the following documents:
- Self-attested gazette copy
- Self-attested proof of identity (old and new names)
- Service record extract with the updated name
- Bank account proof showing the updated name
- Form S2

For Name Change after Marriage:
Upload the following documents:
- Self-attested gazette copy or marriage certificate
- Self-attested proof of identity (old and new names)
- Service record extract with the updated name
- Bank account proof showing the updated name
- Form S2

For Minor Corrections:
Upload the following documents:
- Self-attested proof of identity
- Service record extract
- Form S2
Authorization Process:
The District Treasury Officer (DTO) or PAO must verify and authorize each request. If the DDO initiates a request, the Treasury Office/PAO verifies, and the DTA office authorizes. If documentation is unsatisfactory, Treasury or PAO officials can reject the request.
2. Modifying Date of Birth (DoB), Date of Joining (DoJ), and Date of Retirement (DoR)
For DoB, DoJ, and DoR updates, Treasury Officers/PAOs may proceed with updates in the CRA system after uploading appropriate documents as proof:
- Documents for Date of Birth Modification:
- Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, High School Mark Sheet (SSC), Passport, Driving License, or PAN Card
- Documents for Date of Joining Modification:
- Appointment letter or official letter, Employee ID card
- Documents for Date of Retirement Modification:
- Appointment letter or official letter, Employee ID card
The DDO can initiate these requests, and Treasury or PAO offices must verify and authorize each change.
Treasury Officers’ Instructions
All Treasury Officers are instructed to adhere to these procedures for updating PRAN account details for NPS subscribers. District Treasury and Accounts Officers must ensure that these guidelines reach all relevant divisions and departments.
