Two Semester System in AP Schools 1st Class to 10th Class

AP SCERT has planned to implement two semester system from 1st Class to 10th Class. For the classes 1st Class to 9th Class the implementation of semester system will be from 203-24. For 10th class the semester system will be from 2024-25. For the implementation of semester system CSE & AP SCERT has issued proceedings RC.No: ESE02/892/2022-SCERT Date: 17/12/202. The complete information regarding implementation of two semester system in schools is as follows.

ORDER:

1. All the Regional Joint Directors of School Education, All the District Educational Ofcers, All the APCs of Samagra Shihsha and all the Principals of DIETS in the State are aware that the Government of Andhra Pradesh has tahen steps for efective implementation of National Educational Policy-2020 by emphasizing the quality of education and reforms in school  education in a big way by the implementation of the transformation of existing educational ecosystem.
2. SCERT as the academic authority is revising syllabi and textboohs in  a phased manner. For this purpose, SCERT conducted a detailed study about the curriculum, syllabus, and textboohs of NCERT and other State boards in the country and abroad. SCERT developed textboohs for classes I to V in Bilingual format with ‘Trimester System and Class VI textboohs with ‘Two-Semester System from the academic year 2020-2021. Class VII and Class VIII textboohs were developed in Two-Semester System from the academic year 2021-22 and 2022-23 respectively.
3. After careful examination of the recommendations of the SCERT vide reference 2nd cited through the opinions of various staheholders of the School Education Department personnel and impact studies on new textboohs suggested that it is concluded to follow a uniform pattern in term-based syllabi and textboohs instead of multiple patterns. The Semester System will be helpful to both students and teachers, Learning becomes more meaningful.
4.  Therefore, all the Regional Joint Directors of School Education, District Educational Ofcers, Additional Project Coordinators of Samagra Shihsha and Principals of DIETs in the State are informed that the state will follow the two-semester system from class I to IX from the academic year 2023-24 and from 2024-25 in respect of Class X. This has got approval of the Commissioner of School Education File No.ESE02/892/2022-SCERT
